Eligibility Criteria

Following the instruction issued by The West Bengal State University, the minimum criteria for application at UG level (Session 2024-25) will be:

UR & OBC :
A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
OR 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.

SC & ST :
A minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate and 40% marks in the subject or related subjects at the previous qualifying examination.

Important points to note before beginning with the application procedure

  1. A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination, including Open School is eligible to seek admission to the First Semester of the Eight Semester B.A./B.Sc. Honours / Honours with Research Undergraduate Course of studies provided he/she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100.
  2. No candidate prior to 2021 will be entertained. (starting from 2021 to 2024)
  3. For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Major Course, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks of top four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate in his (10+2) level. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject "Environmental Science" is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.
  4. Admission will be conducted strictly on the basis of merit list. The subject wise merit list will be prepared on the basis of ‘merit score’ for all categories of students.
  5. Merit Points Calculation: Best FOUR Subject Marks + Subject Marks OR Related Subject Marks (whichever is higher)
  6. Tie Breaking Rule: 1st Tie break: Subject/Related subject; 2nd Tie break: Language whichever is highest; 3rd Tie break: Madhyamik or Equivalent Percentage

Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of

  1. Passport size colour photo
  2. Signature of the candidate
  3. 10+2 Marksheet
  4. Class 10th Admit Card
  5. Class 10th Marksheet
  6. Category or caste certificate in case of candidates of reserved category (SC/ST/OBC)
  7. EWS certificate if applicable
  8. PWD certificate if applicable

NOTE : Candidates who are applying for any reserved category should have the certificate in hand. They cannot apply with application number Or acknowledgement slip or father's certificate especially in case of caste certificate.
